• Nason Creek Fund Raiser
  The annual Nason Creek fund raiser held last August was a successful and enjoyable time for all. The society raised some well needed money and some members had an opportunity to chat with many travelers. Thanks to all who volunteered or donated food and supplies.   Discovering My German Roots: A Genealogical Success Story, with Ken Kohnhorst. This Leavenworth resident had inherited his mother's research, but she had not been able to make the connection to Germany. A query on Ancestry.com resulted in an amazing visit to that family's ancestral lands. This meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the East Wenatchee Fire Station Meeting Room.

  From Sevnica, Austria to Wenatchee, Washington, with Sandra McBride. WAGS member Sandie McBride will take us from the Padoshek family home in what was then Slovenia, through emigration in 1895 to an orchard in our valley, farmed by her grandfather until 1955. This meeting will be held at 7 p.m., East Wenatchee Fire Station Meeting Room.

  The History of Firefighting, with Captain Cam Phillips of Douglas County Fire District 2. Since we have been guests of the fire district for so many years, I thought it would be appropriate to learn more about the fighting of fires, both in our ancestors' time and in the present.   Oliver Vincent Wallace: The Rest of the Story with Lynda Pheasant and Fred Pflugrath. When we attend Oliver Wallace's Civil War memorial dedication (Saturday, May 22), we'll hear his biography read as part of the ceremony. At this June program, we'll hear more details about his life, and the research twists and turns that Lynda and Fred navigated to find them. 7 p.m., Douglas County Fire Station Meeting Room
