SEE – LONE GRAVES, DOUGLAS COUNTY, SLACK CEMETERY – Thomas Slack
The cemetery is located southeast of Waterville at the head of Slack Canyon, just south of the Viebrock School. There is a small fenced lot with only one grave visible, with a marble stone marked: “Thomas, beloved husband of Catherine Slack, born Oct 25, 1832, died Nov 20, 1892”. The epitaph read “One by one our hopes grow brighter as we near the heavenly shore, for we know across the river wait the loved ones gone before.”
Note: On Oct 21, 1981, Eldon Hawkins, of Waterville Funeral Home, said he had been told this grave had been disinterred, illegally.
Charles Slack (1912 – 1912) – The infant son of Harry and Minnie Slack
Thomas Slack (1832 – 1893 – Last grave left in Slack Cemetery located southeast of Waterville. It has a marble stone.
