From Leavenworth proceed west/north on State Hwy 2, approximately 8 miles The Chiwaukum Cemetery is located 150 yards west of the State Hwy 2, and 100 yards south of the sewage treatment plant (gravel dump), just pass the Tumwater Forest Camp. Cemetery was visited spring of 2001 by Fred Pflugrath. “As far as I know – there are no formal cemetery records – these burials have been found in articles in local newspapers. There are no stones left in the cemetery – just the small metal fence around three unknown graves – with room for one more.” The iron fence (gate is missing) is in need of repair but the corner posts are still strong. When visited 6 May 2001, there were a few plastic flowers on the fence.
“About 20 feet away from the burial of W.C. Adams, is a woven iron fence. Obviously, three graves and a vacant spot for the fourth as no mound is there. Nearby is an iron fence in a sad state of repair, and trees have fallen across the spot. There has been no encroachment recently. Vehicles travel about 100 yards from the place.” This information was from a cemetery recording by Earl Miller in April 1967.
